Since 1987, the INSTITUTE FOR FAMILIES has offered counseling and support to families facing the devastating diagnosis of visual impairment in their child. The Institute for Families is there for every member of the family during the many difficult days, weeks, and months of treatment. Assistance & Support Through multilingual consultation and family therapy, we provide skilled professional assistance to enable a family to cope with the news that their child will lose his or her vision in one or both eyes. We provide for information for families and their physicians through the publication of medical journal articles, books, videotapes, and other training materials. The Institute for Families can also help locate appropriate infant care programs, school settings, learning aids, and much more through a resource and referral network available to families and professionals internationally
